If you’ve been in business for any amount of time, your business probably looks nothing like you thought it would. Offers have changed. Direction has shifted. Things you swore you’d always do… you don’t do anymore. And things you never planned on doing… you do now. That’s not failure, it’s entrepreneurship. But overcoming pivot anxiety is one of the hardest parts of being a business owner because the fear of change can keep you stuck longer than almost anything else.
Overcoming Pivot Anxiety
Nobody is paying as close attention to you as you think. That’s a hard pill to swallow because we are so consumed by our businesses that it feels like everyone is watching every move we make. But the reality is people are busy with their own lives. They’re not tracking your every shift or noticing every change you make.
Do It Scared
Here’s the thing… everyone is scared. The big business owners you admire, the people who look like they have it all figured out, they’re scared too. They just do it anyway and launch the new offer terrified nobody will buy it. They send the email with shaking hands and they pull the plug on the thing that isn’t working even when it feels risky.
How Overcoming Pivot Anxiety Connects to Your Calling
There’s a difference between chasing money and following where God is leading you. For years I made decisions out of fear… afraid the money wouldn’t follow, afraid to give up the things that were paying the bills. But when I finally stopped making fear-based decisions and started moving toward what actually felt right, everything changed. My business grew and I started loving my work again.
If you feel a nudge toward something and you keep running the other way… that’s worth paying attention to. Invite God into the pivot. Pray about it. Take a step even if it’s uncomfortable. He will open doors and close doors but you have to continue to take steps forward.
Overcoming Anxiety Means Staying in Alignment
If there’s something in your business you dread every single time… that’s a signal. If something is consistently draining you, pulling you out of alignment, or keeping you from showing up the way you want to, it might be time to make a change.
When you’re doing work you’re not passionate about, people can feel it. It comes through in your marketing, your energy, your client experience. And when you finally pivot into what’s right for you, that comes through too. You show up more authentically, speak more clearly and serve your people better.
Pivot Anxiety Is Just Part of Being a Business Owner
Change is not a sign that something went wrong. It’s a sign that you’re growing. The most successful entrepreneurs are not the ones who got it right the first time. They’re the ones who kept moving forward, kept adjusting, and didn’t let fear make all the decisions.
Your business is allowed to evolve. You are allowed to change your mind. And the people who are meant to follow you will follow you. Go listen to the full episode for the real stories, the mindset shifts, and the practical signs that it might be time for you to make your next pivot.
