There is a lie quietly running in the background of most entrepreneurial spaces right now. It says that if you can do something, you should be doing it. That if the tool exists, you should be using it. That if someone else is doing it and succeeding, you need to be doing it too. And that lie is exhausting a lot of really gifted people who were never meant to carry all of it in the first place.
Just Because You Can Doesn’t Mean You Should… and Scripture Backs That Up
In 1 Corinthians 12, Paul asks a series of questions. Are we all apostles or all prophets or are we all teachers? Do we all perform miracles? The answer is no. Because everyone has been given a different gifting, a different calling, a different assignment. And somewhere along the way, we decided that being a successful business owner means becoming the entire body. The head, the hands, the feet, the stomach… all of it. That is not what we were called to do.
Just Because You Can Doesn’t Mean You Should… So What Are You Actually Called To?
There are a few questions worth sitting with if you’re feeling spread thin and burned out. What are you really good at or what comes easily to you that takes everyone else forever? What do people keep coming back to you for? And what does God keep putting in front of you no matter how many times you try to look away? Your gifting plus your value plus your assignment… that’s the intersection worth building from.
What It Looks Like When You’re Carrying Things That Aren’t Yours
It’s harder to show up. Social media feels heavy. You don’t know what to say or where to focus. You’re exhausted in a way that sleep doesn’t fix. You’re comparing yourself to people who seem to be doing everything effortlessly and wondering why you can’t keep up. That’s not a motivation problem. That’s a weight problem. And the weight isn’t yours to carry.
Just Because You Can Doesn’t Mean You Should… Go Deep Instead of Wide
The world tells us to diversify, scale, build passive income, grow a following, start a podcast, write a book. And AI has made it even easier to do all of those things… which has made it even easier to water down the one thing you were actually built for. What if instead of going fast and wide, you went slow and deep? What if you took the thing you were actually assigned to and did it really, really well?
If you’re not sure what that one thing is, that’s exactly what I help people figure out. Book a free call and let’s dig into it together. Book it here.
