Donna frantically called me the Monday before Christmas to see if I could do an extended family session. Their other photographer had cancelled on them and they had a limited window to get family pictures. After some creative planning we managed to get a session booked for just a few days later!
One of the reasons we had to work quickly was that her son, James is in the military (as her daughter-in-law) and they were going to be moving. We also had to work around his flight schedule and he had to have negative covid tests in order to fly. It was restricting for sure!
These two got married during COVID and therefore it was a small, intimate affair and they didn’t even have professional photos. So naturally we did a quick little couples session.
This quilt is a family heirloom and is treasured so it made for the perfect pictures for these two as they start their life together.
No wedding pictures is also hard on the moms and dads. They didn’t get pictures with their “little boy” either! So we remedied that as well.
Jim and Donna have been married for over 40 years and they still have the sparkle in their eyes.
The other half of the story is that this little bundle of joy joined the family in 2020 as well. Saoirse was only 3 months old when we did these photos. She was born with heart defect so they had to be extra careful with her exposure to ANYTHING.
Clearly, she is adored by all!
She is such a cutie pie with those big blue eyes. So striking!
What a big, beautiful family. I am so thankful that it worked out and I could capture them! Even the weather cooperated!
Are you ready for the tear jerker? James had NEVER met Saoirse because between Covid, his work schedule and her heart condition it never worked out. So this picture is the first time he held her in his arms. Cue the tears.
And just for posterity.
Jim and Donna, you are blessed! Thanks for letting me capture your family and I am so glad we were able to pull this off at the last minute! Want to see more extended family sessions? Check out the Price family and the Concilio family.
