However, there are common mistakes that I witness regularly across every business type. These branding mistakes are easy to avoid once you know what they are.
Colors & Logo
This may be what you are the most excited about. Don’t get me wrong, I get it! This is the fun part, and we all want to skip to it. However, branding isn’t all about your logo and colors. And quite honestly, it is the least important step of them all. Colors and logo design will fall into place easily once you look at your brand strategically after doing market research. Avoid the mistake of skipping straight to colors, fonts and logos.
Skipping Messaging
Of all the branding mistakes, this has to be the most painful for me. This is the most essential step, and should be completed early on in branding. It is your message! A lot of the time, business owners oversimplify what they do; “I am a nutrition coach”. When you do this, you are essentially skipping messaging. Instead really deep dive into who you serve, what are their pain points, what results do they need. This can be accomplished best with market research. Then put it together and you have a strong message that is effective in connecting you with your ideal client.
What Makes You Stand Out
Truth be told, at least a dozen other businesses offer precisely the same thing you do. And you know what? Some of them do it better than you, and others will do it for less money. But quality and cost are not the only factors that convince a potential client to work with you. So, find what makes you unique in your industry! By not taking the time to nail this down, you are making a mistake that will hinder your growth. You be you boo!
