With graduation, senior trips and your plans for life-after-school, your schedule is probably packed! But did you know that some of your plans might affect your Denver senior photos? I want your pictures to turn out INCREDIBLE, so I’m offering you some of my advice as a Denver senior photographer.
As your senior pictures approach, DON’T do these five things!

Stay Up Late.
Drinking water and getting a full eight hours of sleep is probably not your first priority as a young adult, but I’m here to tell you it should be! Get lots of sleep leading up to your pictures and drink lots of water so your skin is well hydrated. You really can see the difference, especially in the dryness of Colorado!
Use Self-Tanner Before Your Denver Senior Photos
The temptation to tan is strong, especially during the summer. I’m telling you with all my strength as a Denver senior photographer: DO NOT use self-tanner before your senior pictures. It can make you look orange in photos, and color-correcting your skin is basically impossible to edit…don’t do it!

Get a Sunburn!!!
There is nothing worse than hot red skin and sunburn lines during your senior pictures. Like self-tanner, sunburn is nearly impossible to photoshop out. Make sure you use sunscreen in the days and weeks leading up to your photos. The same goes for really drastic tan lines. Don’t lay out in the sun with your straps on in the days leading up to your session or get a farmer tan from football camp! No one wants a red or peeling nose in their senior pictures!
Leave Everything To The Last Minute!
Make sure you lay everything out, and get organized. That’s outfits AND accessories AND props. Pre-load it in the car before your session. If you need more tips for getting prepped for your senior photos, read my tips in my post How to Prep for Your Senior Pictures Session!

Arrive Late To Your Denver Senior Photos
Make sure you leave plenty of time to get ready. If you’re headed somewhere new, map and save the location ahead of time so you aren’t running late and stressed. Getting there early might be the best choice you make. You’ll get a chance to look around and find creative spots for your photos.
Want to see someone who got it all right??
Abby is on my rep team and her photo shoot at Denver Botanic Gardens checked all of the boxes. She was well prepared, well rested, had a sun-kissed glow without self-tanning, and left plenty of time to get downtown to the Denver Botanic Gardens (even during rush hour).
Your Denver senior photos are going to be an amazing memory for you. Let’s make this experience the best it can be!!
