Showing up on social media can be daunting, especially when it comes to your business. You want to come across as knowledgeable but relatable. Responsible as well as fun. An expert without being a know-it-all. We have all been there. And as someone who is showing up on social media as a brand photographer and strategist every single day, I get it. I have a few tips for growing in confidence in your social media that has made all the difference for my online presence.

Social Media Tip- Forget Perfect
You are human, so act like it! We all make mistakes, trip over our words, and have bad hair days. So, when you show up for your audience and are not perfect, that is okay! You may feel like you are coming off as unprofessional, but truthfully, you are humanizing yourself, which is so valuable! People want to buy from other people, not some stuffy corporate leader.
Social Media Tip- Find Good Lighting
Lighting makes all the difference! And I am not just saying that as a Denver brand photographer. As someone who once struggled to feel comfortable on social media, lighting will add to your confidence and your message delivery. I recommend standing in front of a window with the light shining on your face. This will be your best bet for a clear and beautiful shot on your phone.

Social Media Tip- What Do I Do With My Hands?!
The age old question! Give your hands something to do. This will help you feel less awkward in front of the camera and keep your mind from overanalyzing yourself. In addition, busy hands capture your audience’s attention, resulting in more engagement. Wondering what to do with your hands? Hold your product, talk while getting ready for the day, or even just talk with your hands.
Social Media Tip- Practice Makes Perfect
Just showing up is the best place to start! As you are more consistent, you will get a hang of it. You will learn what your voice sounds like as you show up in your stories or reels and it will help you figure out how to connect best! The more you practice, the better you will be. And remember, you can always delete something if you really don’t like it.
