I have been a professional photographer for over a decade! And in my time, I have learned a lot about different businesses and the type of services they need to thrive. As well as the types of photography that is required in order to best represent a brand. Which brings me to: commercial photography vs branding photography. Although they sound like the same thing to most people, they are vastly different.

What Is Commercial Photography?
If you are a larger corporation, business, or company, then commercial photography is more likely what you are looking for. These types of images are meant to capture a larger audience to sell products and/or services to a variety of people in different demographics and socioeconomics.
Being on a larger scale with a wider variety of potential consumers does not mean we aren’t going to be specific in our messaging. You still need to tailor your message to the ideal audience, do the research and find the analytics for that specific business.

Branding Photography
On the other hand, brand photography is more personal. These images capture the personality of a brand and display the passion and vision of the individuals. These are crucial for smaller businesses that rely more on personal connection and less on brand awareness.
Because brand photos are more personal and meant to connect you to your audience, they are not as sales-focused as commercial photography. Instead, the goal is building trust and an emotional bond that will resonate with your ideal audience.

Commercial Photography vs Branding Photography
Commercial and brand photography are birds of a feather! Both are needed for a business to thrive, as they help with different business strategies. However, they are the same in how they contribute to your business for marketing and advertising.
