One year ago today this is what I was doing.  This is one of my all-time favorite birth photos.  I love Emily’s mom’s face in the background of this picture.  I had no idea I had captured her joy and expression until I got home and looked at the images.

Little Carolyn is now one year old as of noon today!  This year went by so fast for me I can only imagine how Emily and Chris feel.  That first year of your baby’s life just flies by!!  Here is a fun little comparison for you.  Here is my favorite image from Carolyn’s newborn session.  At her one year session we tried to recreate this image.  It was a little tricky as we were outside instead of inside and the lighting was really different, but here it is.  What a difference a year makes!

It is obvious that Carolyn brings joy to her family and everyone around her.

She has the sweetest little smile and such a happy demeanor.  She made it is easy for me to get great pictures.

We used this rocking chair for Carolyn’s big sister as well.  It is a family heirloom and I am so glad Emily brought it along again!

Carolyn is a tiny little peanut so it is especially cute to see her walking all over the place.  My kids didn’t walk until they were at least 15 months (and one of them was 18 months before he walked) so to have such a tiny little walker blows my mind!

Can we just talk about her clothes???  Emily you did such a great job.  I love her little red knit dress and the turquoise lace one is to die for!!  She is going to look so cute for Easter when she matches her big sister.  Make sure you post pictures so I can see them in all their cuteness!!!

This red dress.  Seriously!!!  Red is my favorite color so these make me so happy!!  Pair that with two little teeth on the bottom and I am in absolute heaven.

I am so glad I happened to have my red and white pot in the back of my car.  It was the perfect accessory for this session.

Such a sweet girl.  And the drool.  I know it seems gross but I love it.  I am weird.  I know.

After all of the smiling it was time for the real fun.  CAKE SMASH!!  What is a one year session without a cute baby stuffing their face with frosting and cake??

This just might be one of my favorite cake smash photos.  Look at the way she is looking at the cake and then…..the drool.  I feel like this when I look at cupcakes too.  So funny!!

Carolyn was a little bit unsure about it, but once she started in on the frosting she loved it.

She wasn’t so sure about the actual cake part.  I don’t blame you sister.  I prefer the frosting too.

Babies always look so cute covered in frosting.

Happy Birthday Miss Carolyn!! I hope you get more cake today.  I have loved our year together!!!
