Have you ever heard of a fresh 48 session?  I only know about them because I am in the photography industry!!!  However, I think it is brilliant!

Do you love the look and idea of birth photos but you really don’t want one more person in the room?  Then a fresh 48 session is for you!!  They are perfect for documenting meeting the siblings for the first time too.  It is wonderful for you all to be “in the moment” without trying to wrangle the camera for sibling and first full family photo.  Trust me…you won’t regret it.

Remember the days of old when a photographer would come to your recovery room after you had a baby and lay your baby on the bed, wrap them in the hospital blanket and snap a photo?  Then you could buy those photos for your “baby book”.  Well…..it is like that, but better!!!

It is where a photographer (like me) comes to the hospital within 48 hours of you having a baby.  It is more of a lifestyle session and I get pictures of you loving on your new baby.  It is more than just me laying your baby on the bed for one picture.  However, I did take one like that for my last Fresh 48.  It totally reminds me of the exact same picture from my baby book (without the adorable red hair of course).  Check it out!

Recently I had a client who had some unexpected expenses come up (like buying a mini van) so they weren’t able to do the full newborn session they were anticipating doing.  So we did a Fresh 48 instead.  It is a bit cheaper as it is a shorter session and involves less posing and props (and editing).  Of course I still usually bring a few goodies.  Especially for the girls.

I simply came to the hospital the morning after this baby girl was born and got some lifestyle pictures.

Carey really just wanted a few pictures of her with her baby.  What more does a mama want?  We want to remember that feeling of snuggling our new babies.  Guys don’t quite get it.  They aren’t as sentimental as we are, right?!  I guess I should say “most” men.  Sorry to stereotype here.

So if you really want some newborn or birth pictures but a full newborn/birth session is a bit too overwhelming or expensive then this might be the perfect option for you.  The Fresh 48 is only $250 and includes 5 images and then you can order more products or images at your viewing session about 7-14 days after the photos are taken!

Sweet little Temperance was less than 18 hours old.  She still had that freshly baked baby smell and the super wrinkly feet.  Aren’t they to DIE for!!??

I love these sessions.  I am able to get such a variety in such a short amount of time.
