Magic.  Every once in a while I will have a session that when I get home the only word I can come up with is magic.  The session is smooth, the kids are wonderful and the images knock my socks off.

This year it was this family.  I have known Carey for years and years.  She (and Temperance) have been in front of my camera before, but it was my first session with the full family.

We had a few things going for us.  #1.  We had worked together in the past.  Anytime I work with someone more than once it is so much easier.  We all know each other and they know what to expect from me.  It makes things so much easier.  #2.  Carey used to be a photographer.  So she knows how to pose and how to style her family and their clothing.  #3.  They are just a cute and happy family.  That always makes things as smooth as butter.

With all of their kids (and all of the kids in Paul’s family) they have a tradition of getting milestone pictures at 8 months.  So when Temperance turned 8 months, Carey decided she might as well do the whole family at the same time.  But the main goal was to get these pictures.  You aren’t going to believe it, but we did these pictures in NOVEMBER.  There were still a few beautiful trees and their bright outfits made the session feel downright summery.  So if you are ever worried about doing photos later in the season….don’t be!

Look at that beautiful red hair and bright blue eyes.  She also has some of the best facial expressions!

It had been a while since they had family pictures taken so it was a good time to update those as well.  Be sure to notice that Temperance is pulling Tobias’ hair…but he doesn’t seem to mind.

Be still my heart.  Sibling pictures are the best.  Those freckles get me every time.

A little behind the scenes secret information for you.  While I was taking these photos of Verity and Tobias, Paul and Carey were desperately trying to recover from a Temperance blow out!

These photos are some of my all-time favorite.  Not only was the lighting and color good, but there is just something special and sweet about these photos.  It captures the true essence of motherhood.

I think Carey got an arm workout during this photo.  Tempy is a little chunky-monkey!  She has them all wrapped around her cute, chubby finger.

One thing is for sure.  Verity LOVES having siblings.  She was so sweet and helpful throughout the entire session.  I hope these girls grow up to be best friends.

Here is the model shot from the session.  Don’t you love how serious he is?  Don’t you just want to scoop him up and kiss all of those little freckles and those big brown puppy-dog eyes?

Being a mama can be hard work both emotionally and physically.  But it truly is the best gift in the whole world.

See what I mean about this session being like magic?  I had a hard time narrowing it down!!!  I love working with you Carey (and fam) and I can’t wait until next time.  Hopefully we can beat this (although it is going to be tough).
