It is always flattering to be asked by a fellow photographer to take their pictures. It is even more flattering when that fellow photographer is your long time friend and mentor.
When I was in Jr. High (a LONG time ago), Rene worked with the Jr. High group at church and we were paired up. She was a wonderful leader and took lots of time to hang out with me. We drifted apart a bit after that but God brought us together again about 10 years ago.
I had just taken family photos for my sister and they turned out great and I LOVED it. A few weeks later, I ran the Donor Dash here in Denver to support one of our friends who had been blessed with a double lung transplant. I ran into Rene who was running in honor of her nephew Joe who tragically died and was a donor. We got to chatting and she mentioned that she was looking for an assistant/second shooter for her wedding photography business. A few weeks later, I drove with her to Greeley where I helped her with a wedding and she taught me photography tidbits along the way. I have been her second shooter ever since and she has been so gracious to help, guide and teach me along the way. A few years ago, she met this handsome guy and he stole her away to New York! He is a great guy, but I still don’t like that he stole my Ne from me 😉!! She is going to hate that I am putting this picture in here, but I have to show you how beautiful she is!! She could have been a model in another life, right!? She has the most beautiful green eyes evah!
They were in town for a friend’s wedding at the beginning of the summer and Rene has been dying to do some pictures with her main squeeze, so we set up a time to get together.
They live fancy lives in New York so they get their pictures taken often at glamourous events and red carpets, but they had never done a full photoshoot together.
William is an amazing singer and decorated Broadway actor and Rene is gorgeous and a photographer, so they know how to work the camera.
These two are so head over heels for each other and have been since the start of their relationship. It is almost hypnotic when they are around each other. I didn’t even have to tell them to pose like this…..it is just how they are all the time.
William owns his own tux (part of the biz) and was willing to wear it for the session, so Rene found a fancy dress too! It was so fun to do a fancy session. I think this is my first session with a tuxedo that wasn’t a wedding.
Colorado a kind of brown and dry right now…..so this is a welcome sight. The beginning of the summer was SO wet and green, I am missing that right now as it just hit 100 degrees earlier this week. Mother nature didn’t get the memo that the summer is winding down and it should start cooling off!
Are you even kidding me with these images?? They are some of my favs.
Don’t they just look so happy together?
We ran into a few people as we were doing photos and everyone ohhh and ahhhh over these two and kept asking what was the occasion. I loved their answer. Every time someone asked “what is the occasion”? they simply answered “LOVE”. Isn’t that the sweetest?
😍
After our Fancy part of the session, they changed and we got more pictures. The lighting here was PERFECTION!!
Even their non-fancy clothes still look pretty dapper!!
Rene is always so good about letting me know when she is in town and we try our darndest to get together. It doesn’t always work out, but I am so thankful that she puts the effort into keeping our relationship alive. Last time I was in New York she made a special trip into the city so we could have drinks together! I am so thankful for her and her investment in me and now our lasting friendship. It was such a joy to be able to capture these for her.
She just started a great new job at Pepsi and I am happy for her, but I am still a Coca-Cola girl through and through (sorry Rene) and William is getting ready to do a show of Sunset Blvd. in Boston. I wish I could go and see him perform!! But if any of you are going to be in Boston anytime soon, you should look it up!
We had a beautiful night for our “Colorado” session and Colorado did not disappoint (and neither did these two).
They wanted a location that looked “Colorado-y” and I think we nailed it.
Love you Ne and I am so happy you found your guy….even if it means you have to live so far away!
