Doesn’t it seem like the years fly by? Another graduation season is here, and kids are growing up! If you’re looking for some senior pictures in Colorado to commemorate this important milestone, you may wonder, “When’s the best time to book?”

There’s a lot of conflicting information online, but I’ll speak to my experience here in Denver. As a Denver senior photographer, l’ll share my secrets. The best month for senior pictures here in Colorado is…drumroll please…June! Does that surprise you? Here are a few reasons why I’d pick my senior pics in June. 

Cooler Temps and Green Backgrounds

June in Denver is fresh and green, perfect weather for photography. We get all those really vibrant backgrounds with the full trees and grass before the heat of summer dries it all out. It’s warm enough that we can photograph without goosebumps, but cool enough that your teen won’t melt if we need a photo in their letterman jacket. 

More Photographer Availability

You may be surprised to hear it, but in June, Denver senior photographers like myself actually have more availability! July and August are packed for Denver Senior photographers as it is nearing the time when yearbook photos are due, so it might be hard to find a session. June is the calm before the storm, so it’ll be easier for you to find availability and to work around the busy schedule of your photographer and your busy senior!

Less Crowds 

No matter which location we pick, you’re sure to find fewer crowds in June than you would during other times of the year. Fewer crowds means that it’s easier to get the shots we want without distracting people in the background. An added bonus? Your teen will probably feel more comfortable posing and giving genuine smiles when we’re not fighting the masses during their senior pictures in Colorado.
