As a brand photographer, I will get inquiries requesting one session type when they mean another. This is fine because usually, we work out those details in our initial call and planning session. However, there is value in understanding what different brand photography is. Let’s compare a branding session and headshots to see which one you need to schedule for your next shoot!

Branding Session
I talk about it all the time. Branding is storytelling! To get the most from your brand, you need to tell your story and gain the trust of your audience. A branding session is usually more lifestyle shots and tells your story. It includes headshots, lifestyle images, behind-the-scenes images, and stock images. Basically everything you need, photography wise, to build a brand.
A branding session gives you diversity. Creating a gallery of images to pull from to help you show up in all the places! This includes images for your website, social media posts, marketing, profile pictures and newsletters. A brand session is great is you own your own business and you are the face of your business!

Headshots
A headshot is more straight forward and basic. It is just a photo of you looking at the camera. I add variety to headshot galleries by posing you differently, standing or sitting. As well as setting you up in front of different backdrops. These images are perfect for updating profile pictures, and work best if you work for another company.
