Amazing headshots have so many uses: social media profiles, LinkedIn, business marketing, or even just your email signature. Maybe you need to attach one to your acting resume! No matter what you need them for, get the best Denver headshots!
Headshots are tricky, and as a Denver commercial photographer, I want to share with you some mistakes I’ve made (and some mistakes I’ve seen other photographers make) when it comes to these important photos.
Getting Fussy Over Denver Headshots Locations
Unlike other types of photography, headshot work doesn’t require a full, perfect location. A headshot is closely fit to the face and body of the subject. Location does matter, somewhat, but, for headshots, only a small amount of location is seen!
All I’m saying is, you don’t need to head into the heart of the Rocky Mountain vistas to get an amazing Denver headshot photo.
Ignoring the Importance of Light
Ok, moving forward from my last point. While background details aren’t important for Denver headshots, light IS. In fact, light is the MOST important part of location, generally. For good headshots, you must avoid harsh shadows, so pick soft overhead light, no matter whether you’re at a studio or outdoors.
Obsessing over Uniformity
You probably don’t associate the word variety with headshots and branding. But, since “headshot” is classified as any photo that is cropped at the midriff to create focus on the face, there’s actually a lot of wiggle room in there! Your headshots should not be a point-and-shoot, call it a day.
When I do Denver headshots and branding, I work hard to do a ton of different poses and angles. Variety is so helpful! And it gives you way more photos to put on social media.
Stress Free Denver Headshots
The last mistake I’ve seen is high stress levels during a session. There is nothing worse than a forced smile and someone who is constantly tell you to move your chin up, down, side to side. You need to feel relaxed, comfortable and CONFIDENT!
To solve this one, make sure you jive with your photographer beforehand. Pick someone who has a style that you are comfortable with. And, if you’re working with me, trust me as your photographer to make you look AMAZING (even when I ask you to do something a little out of the norm, ha)!
If you’re in the market for Denver headshots or branding for business, let’s work together! I love to help people feel so confident during their photos, and I promise your photos will be so great, you’ll use them for years to come! Book here.
