Preparing for your first branding session can be nerve-wracking, especially if you don’t know what to expect! Denver commercial photographers are happy to help you figure it out, so let’s share some branding knowledge. Before you click “book” on your first branding session, here are some things you DEFINITELY need to know.

Know Your Ideal Client
Before you book your branding session, you need to know your ideal client? Why? Because your ideal client is going to guide everything in this shoot! Everything from location, outfits, posing, and the type of photos we capture. The goal is to make YOUR photos appeal to THEM!

Know Your Colors
Another thing you NEED to know is your branding colors. We can incorporate these into your shoot through outfits, props, and backdrops—but we can’t do any of it unless you know your colors ahead of time. If your business is brand new, do yourself a favor by doing some color research before you book. Or check out this blog about how to use color in your branding images.

Know What Photos You Need For Your Branding Session
Here’s another easily overlooked tip: know what photos you need before you book! If you need stock-type photos, if you need profile pictures, banner pictures, it’s all stuff that you should share with your photographer so we can make sure that you’re getting the most out of your branding session.
And seriously, don’t feel like you’re stepping on toes. Of course your photographer will have their own creative ideas, but this is YOUR shoot. So let’s get the photos you actually need.

Know Your Vibe
When I say vibe, I mean that you should know the look and feel you want to evoke in your photos. Are you looking for serious/professional? Something fun? Cozy? Really niche down here. Again, these details will really affect the session. If you take the time to do this research and share your vision with your photographer, you’ll be amazed at how YOU the photos turn out. If you are a city girl with high-end professional clients, then a session at a barn in your cowboy boots probably isn’t going to fit the vibe of your brand.

Know (and Trust!) Your Branding Session Photographer
And the last tip: know and trust your photographer! It’s always a good idea to look at a photographer’s portfolio before you ask to book, and have an honest consultation with them to make sure you’re a good match. After you click “book,” trust us to work our magic!

Just know that I, personally, would love to get to know you and your brand! I have been working as a Denver commercial photographer for a long time, and honestly, I LOVE it! This is such a great way to grow your confidence within your business.
