I am here to help you level up your business through branded images that tell your story!

You have chosen me as your photographer (thank you SOOOOOO MUCH) and now it is time to figure out how to choose a location for your Denver Senior Pictures!  I am about to share all of my best kept secret locations so buckle up!  Some of these locations require an additional entrance fee or travel fee.  Also, some of them require permits so be sure to check to make sure that you have the proper permits (as I always do).

How to Choose a Location for Your Denver Senior Pictures: Keep These Things in Mind

Does the location fit your personality?  If you have a rustic farmhouse themed home, having photos done in front of an urban mural might not be the best photo to display in your home!  Think about the look feel and colors of your home when you are choosing locations and outfits.  Make sure they fit your décor style so you will want to display them!  Do you have physical limitations?  If so, let me know so we don’t choose a location that involves a lot of walking or hiking.

Do you have something truly unique to offer? Let’s go there!!  Let’s make some photos that are different and reflect you and your family!  If you want to do a travel session, let me know as I love to visit new places (travel fee may apply).

Here are some tried and true locations that are my favorite!

Rustic + Rural Locations:

This is great if you want barns, fences, long grasses, or old buildings. These locations are full of charm, and have a timeless look to them. My favorite rustic and rural locations are Heritage Lakewood, Hildebrand Ranch, Fly’n B Park, Littleton Historical Museum, Clear Creek History Park, South Park City (In Fairplay), Stonehouse Park, Columbine Open Space or Colorado Railroad Museum.

Nature + Floral Locations:

Colorado is absolutely stunning, especially when it is in full bloom. These locations usually have plenty of variety and highlight Colorado’s natural beauty. The best time for these locations is June as it tends to dry out in Colorado as the summer months go on. If you really want wildflowers, green grasses or flowering plants, you should book as early as possible in the summer. My favorite nature and floral locations are Bear Creek Lake Park, Stone house Park, Bear Creek Park, Lair O’ The Bear Park, Fly’n B Park, Denver Botanic Gardens, Chatfield Botanic Gardens, Meyers Ranch, Hudson Gardens and Belmar Park.

Mountain + Epic Colorado Locations:

Ready for some iconic Colorado photos? These locations are my most commonly requested locations (although sometimes they are most difficult to get and navigate). Remember, that most of your photos are going to be waist up, so you might want to avoid some of these locations as they can be way more crowded. Also, I have a few places further up in the mountains that are amazing but might require a travel fee. My favorite epic or mountain locations are Lookout Mountain, Fairplay, Boettcher Mansion, Lair O’ The Bear, Evergreen Lake House, Windy Saddle, Mount Falcon Park, South Valley Park, Red Rocks, Bear Creek Lake Park, South Mesa Trail (Boulder) or Chautauqua Park (Boulder).

Buildings + Doorways:

Buildings and doorways are great for photos. They provide great texture and background for senior pictures and give you a place to lean and sit and make the photos more interesting. Depending on the location, you can get more of a rustic feel like in Downtown Littleton, South Park City, Heritage Lakewood, or Clear Creek History Park, or you can get more of a modern feel like in Riverfront Park, Union Station or RiNo. These are great if you want a lot of variety for your Denver Senior Pictures and love color and texture!

Colorful + Urban Locations:

This is great if you are more colorful and edgy! Think graffiti walls, staircases, city skyscapes and textured brick. City locations are so much fun and make for epic locations for senior pictures. RiNo, Riverfront Park, Downtown Littleton, Denver Center for Performing Arts, Cheeseman Park and Union Station are all amazing spots for photos.

Water Locations:

Water locations are so much fun, but can also be difficult to come by depending on the time of year we do your photos. Some of my favorite water locations are Lair O’ The Bear, Stone House Park, Bear Creek Lake Park, Clear Creek and Belmar Park

Destination Locations:

Want something truly unique and out of the ordinary. There are tons of locations in Colorado that are absolutely stunning and out of this world. These locations all require a travel fee so keep that in mind if you are interested in these locations. My favorite Colorado locations are The Paint Mines, South Park/Fairplay, The Great Sand Dunes, Breckenridge, Aspen, Telluride/Ouray and more!

If you really want to go all out, think about something like the Salt Flats in Utah, Disney, the ocean, Hawaii….if you can dream it up, we can probably make it happen! Let me know what you have in mind.

Other Ideas:

Local parks with colorful playground equipment and swings make for fun, playful senior pictures! Other ideas might be a golf course, amusement park, batting cages, coffee shops, airport hangers, fire stations, rooftops, sports venues, or anything else that you are passionate about or have private access to. The sky is the limit! Let’s make your senior pictures fit your personality, vibe and interests!

How are you going to choose for your Denver Senior Pictures?

No matter what you choose, we can make your senior session epic and unique! It really comes down to lighting, clothing, props and posing. All of which I walk you through as well. Let me know what is your favorite for your senior pictures. And remember, some of these locations require a travel fee and/or a permit fee in order to shoot there. So be sure that you are checking with me (or your photographer) to see what is needed! Hopefully you now know How to Choose a Location for Your Denver Senior Pictures.
